Rebuli is a company from Valdobbiadene. Established in 1995 by Romano Vedova, it specialises in the finishing of sunglasses and optical eyewear and the manufacturing of acetate frames.
On the cutting edge of research and development, its mission is to deliver products which combine technological innovation, top-quality materials and the excellence of Italian workmanship.
As Romano, the sole shareholder and CEO of Rebuli S.r.l., says in an interview we arranged to discuss our working partnership: “Our goal is to give our clients the best possible service and, if we team up with other companies to do it, the end result is bound to be positive because the different experiences the companies bring to the table also help the problem solving process”.
The ongoing dialogue we have established with Rebuli over the years enables us to identify and anticipate problems in projects and find the best possible solution.
Every stage of production is carried out in our workshop, so when Rebuli comes to us with a new project, we study it with them and choose the solution that best meets their times and costs, depending on quantities and deadlines.
Our partnership is based on communication and synergy and to give you a better idea of what that means, we spoke to Romano and Fabio Agostinetto, designer and technical manager.
This is what they had to say.
Which problem did you work with D.F. to solve?
RV: We turn to D.F. for all our equipment needs: firstly for punches and moulds for our temples and then anything else we need as regards moulds and parts.
Our decision to work with D.F. was actually a no-brainer because its professionalism and precision, as well as the quality it guarantees, are essential requirements for us. Over time we developed a kind of affinity because we understand each other on so many other levels.
What were your aims when you started looking for a company to assist you in your projects?
RV: We were looking for a partner we could rely on as regards production, quality and deadlines: as we all know, business is conducted at a much faster rate nowadays and we need someone with a quick turnaround time that will not hold up the production chain. D.F. met all our needs from the get-go.
FA: Its positive attitude to problem solving and its flexibility when dealing with urgent requests is what gives them the edge: we can always count on D.F. for help, especially if we need advice about how to make a part. Communication with them and, as Romano said, our understanding reassure us: it gives us the confidence to take on projects and challenges that we probably wouldn’t if we didn’t have someone reliable to guide us.
Did you have any doubts before embarking on this project with D.F.? Was there anything that made you think they might not be a good fit for you?
RV: No, absolutely not. D.F. has solid, long-standing experience, starting with the father Gianni who was a pioneer in the world of moulds and components. We were afraid they wouldn’t want to work with us because we were such a small company: we had that mixture of fear and respect you have when you approach someone with the reputation they had in the past and still have today with Gianni. I often stop for a chat with him and I still have a huge amount of respect for him.
What was it that persuaded you to choose D.F.?
RV: D.F. has been in the business for a long time now. The passing years and recessions have had serious repercussions on the sector and the very fact that D.F. has grown to the size it is today is testimony of its past and the investments it has made.
What strikes you most during the projects you work on with D.F.?
FA: Our relationship with D.F. goes through different stages, from the beginning of the project to development and production: we discuss the idea, develop the technical side of things and then production begins. Franzoia gives us a sense of security every step of the way because they always deliver precision and respect deadlines. This is the difference between D.F. and all the others.
What did D.F. bring to Rebuli?
FA: It gave us the chance to work on projects we would never have been able to without them. We work with acetate but if we hadn’t had the chance to make combination frames, milled fronts or everything concerning metal parts in glasses with a reliable partner like them, we probably wouldn’t have had the confidence to offer the services we do today.
How would you define the results?
RV: Good, they have helped us grow and consolidate our partnership with them, day after day.
Who would you recommend D.F. to?
RV: Everyone. We are working together on a number of ventures which combine our vocation for certain projects with Sergio’s technical expertise: this gives both the companies, Rebuli and D.F., the opportunity to grow and put ourselves forward as a model of synergy which, in today’s world, is essential for a company if it wants to grow. Our goal is to give our clients the best possible service and, if we team up with other companies to do it, the end result is bound to be positive because the different experiences the companies bring to the table also help in the problem solving process.
Would you like to say something on a personal note?
RV: What really amazes me is that D.F. is using communication strategies that are way ahead of its competitors. It focuses on both the sector and magazines, conveying a very forward-looking image: clients are encouraged and interested to see what will come out in the next issue.
FA: I was struck by the progress the company has made since it passed from the older generation to the new, something that was quite common in the past: nowadays you don’t often see companies which are handed down from father to son make such positive progress as D.F. It just shows how solid they are, something you don’t find with everyone.
