Today we would like to tell you a bit more about our core injection and thermoforming moulds which we use to hot mould acetate temples or temple tips which have already been cut with a punch. Punching gives us a semi-finished product which is then moulded to make the camber and define the edges of the acetate part. At the same time, these moulds enable us to insert the core or make a hole on the temple tip.
The moulds are made of steel and are in two parts: top + bottom. According to the type of machine and the client’s needs, we can produce closed moulds or moulds that can be opened.
We can also include logos, designs, engravings, patterns or three-dimensional textures on the mould, thus reproducing details of varying complexity on the temple. With moulds that can be opened, we can also produce undercuts or engravings on the edge of the temple. These details can be made directly on the moulds during milling or afterwards using electrodes or the laser.
When creating a mould for a project, we have three options: the client can send us a sample temple he wants to produce or a 2D drawing and our Technical Department will first create the 3D drawing of the part and then the design of the mould. Alternatively, the client can send us a 3D drawing and the Technical Department will make any alterations needed so the part can be made with the mould.
